A man recalling the traumatic death of his brother, Daniel, years earlier. It begins when the narrator discovers an old walkie-talkie in his abandoned childhood home, which begins transmitting unsettling static and the mournful voice of his deceased brother, expressing that he is scared. Through disturbing dreams and escalating encounters with the device, the narrator is forced to confront the shocking truth: he had deliberately abandoned Daniel in the woods as a cruel joke the night his brother slipped and died of exposure. Burdened by years of hidden guilt, he finally screams his confession into the walkie-talkie. The story concludes with the narrator returning to the woods, burying the device at the site of the tragedy, and achieving a fragile, uneasy sense of closure.
