This week we review and discuss Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a superhero movie directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and starring Tom Holland, Zendaya and Sadie Sink and the newest entry in the MCU, about Peter Parker dealing with the ramifications of being forgotten by the world following the events of No Way Home, while dealing with the emerging threat of a villain with mind control powers.

We discuss how the movie moves the story of Peter Parker and the wider MCU forward, how it handles themes of loneliness and balance, whether Jean Grey is a good Spider-Man villain and the thematic space explored by Jean Grey and Punisher and how this reflects Spider-Man's story, how this movie improves on a lot of worldbuilding and story mistakes that have plagued the MCU in recent years, the movie's awkward fit with the upcoming Doomsday, how the movie sets up Peter Parker as a villainous figure in future MCU movies and why that is the most interesting storybeat the MCU has done in years, and much more.
